Someone tell me WHY those anglophonic countries all use LETTERS as grades instead of a simple structure of 1 to 10?

What is an A? Is that like a 9? But I see lots of people with atleast an A on their grade list, so they're all getting 9s? We never get 9s. Perhaps their school is just easy? Am I getting brainwashed?

Then again, we're not as great either, I hear Denmark uses 1 - 12. How can you do that? You can't do that. How can you get the arithmatic mean in that? Yay, I got a 12?
